#FAST ESTIMATION

# QUICK ESTIMATE OF MAN HOURS TO USE FOR EXECUTION REINFORCED CONCRETE

To make a quick estimate of the man hours that are required for the execution of works in reinforced concrete, we must add the following times:

1-Hours-man for Manufacturing and Filling of Concrete
For this task, and if the concrete is manufactured by hand and the work is at floor level, we take a conservative time of 8 hours-man x m3 for manufacturing and filling of the concrete.
If we worked with a plant in situ with concrete mixer trucks,(in optimum conditions) we should compute 1.5 hours-man by m3

2-Hours-man for formworks
Here we must first know the formworks, that we need at m2 per m3 of concrete (m2 formworks /m3 concrete, we will call A), this value is variable, depending on the structure and then we will dividing by the formworks of m2 to be built and placed per hour . If formworks are made only once and then we can used it, we would have an output of 0.80 m2 of formworks by hour-man, we will call B
If the formworks panels should be manufactured only for a defined structure, we would have an output of 0.35 m2 of formworks by hour-man ,we will call C .. then divided A into B or C as appropriate, and we have the time Formwork

3-Hours-man for cutting, folding and assembly of the armor
In this case we need to know the amount of iron per m3 of concrete, we will call D, then divide it by the kg of iron are cut, folded and assembled by hour, this task has a yield of 10 kg x hours ... we will call E ,and dividing D/E , is our time of iron assembly

4-Hours-man to add depending to the type of work
Time-motion Materials at work
Time-curing, and cleaning
Hours-man for manage and controls
Hours-man for excavation or movement of soils
Additional time for lifting-Concrete if necessary

Example

If we build a wall of reinforced concrete, with a height of 1 metro and a thickness of 0.20 m, with an amount of 90 kg of iron per m3 of concrete, the number of hours required would be as follows

Hours-man of manufacture and -------Concrete filling 8 h x m3

Hours-man for Formwork
(Here, the panels are manufactured and then we used it)
M2 formwork /m3 Concrete or A = 10m2/m3
Formwork yield B = 0.80 m2 x hours
Splitting A/B..-------------------------- ------------------ 12.50 h x m3

Hours-man for iron assembly
D x = 90 kg m3 of concrete and E = 10 kg per hour...
then D / E =--------------------------- -------------------- 9 h x m3

Estimated Time to make structure --------- -----------29.5 h per m3,

It must add Hours-man, depending on the type of Work that we read at Item 4

#FAST ESTIMATIONS

#ESTIMATION OF MAN-HOURS FOR TASKS OF WELDING PIPING

Firstly we are going to divide in two groups the welding of piping’s
1 Welding where only we go away to control quality for Hydraulic Test
2 So Welding where we go away to control quality with Nondestructive Test ( for radiographer example ) in addition to The Hydraulic Test

For works with piping’s, it's necessary a good Engineering for making prefabricated ( At workshop) ) then this prefabricated are moving to place for its positioning, adjustment and welding at field
In general with a Standard Engineering, the quantity of welding that we can execute when we prefabricated (we accomplish more rapidly that weld that in field ) reach 70 to 90 % of the total of welding ..Achieving a minor expense of Man-Hours that way

We should tell also that welding Time is depending the material that is welding , we will refer us to the Materials carbon steel

It is also necessary understanding that welding time varies according to the Thickness of the pipe ( to bigger thickness, more setup time of bevels and more work of the Welder, he has to refill more ) and its Diameters ( to bigger diameter, bigger difficulty to move them )

We will definitively give here times Standard ( where laborers, they do not work for production or finished task )

For the first type of welding ( where quality control is only under Hydraulic Test ) and for 4-inch Standard pipe of steel .. time for inch welding ( the group is formed by one assistant, a hurdle maker and a welder ) is of 0.70 hh x pulg for welding at field and 0.40 hh x pulg for prefabricated welding .If they work 10 hours per day, each group, will produce about
42 and 75 inches day, respectively

For the second type of welding ( here quality with Test nondestructive gets under control ,besides Hydraulic Test ) and for the same diameters times happen to..Time for inch of welding at field 2hh x pulg , and 1 hh x pulg of welding in prefabricated, the production for 10 working hours is for each group of 15 and 30 inches day respectively

Notice
Times ( solo indicative ) include
Manipulation Put-Up and Welding

They do not include
Painting- isolated -supports or Clamps

ENGINEERING

The importance of the Item Engineering in the formulation of a Estimation, is according to what we are estimating
- If we are selling Conceptual Engineering and /or Basic engineering, in addition to the Construction of the work , the relevance that acquires the engineering ,surpass the cost and the risks of the work, since we are selling a Concept or idea ( generally patented )..For example.. If we Construct a house, that esthetics and functionally, satisfy the Customer , or a procedure ( that make a transformation).. for example ... the Basic Engineering to separate the effluents from Petroleum Refinery in water and Oils , or the Basic Engineering to convert paraffin oil in Aviation Naphtha
The concept, the technique, the creation ..definitively..exceeded the cost of the action of Constructing
Anyway, when the Professional or the purveying Company of the Basic Engineering allows to, the Client, first acquires the design or the Basic Engineering ,that is suitable to their requests and that next Bids for the Engineering of details and work's Construction separately
In these cases, the value of the design or of the Basic Engineering, are established by who sells it

- As to the cost of the Engineering of details (diagrams, memories of calculation, technical specifications, payrolls etc., that they allow to make a correct Construction), has also a cost that it varies according to the Client and the type of Work

#According to the Client, because some are very demanding as to the level of detail, shape and periods for the presentation of the Engineering of detailed and conformed diagrams to Work
#According to the type of Work, because there are Works that present an important degree of interference with the existent Facilities, or Works with sophisticated control systems , or Works that require calculations that need to be accomplished by specialists, etc. -

When we are found in front of this type of situations, the Engineering of details, increases its gravitation in the preparation of the estimation and in general they should value for comparison with similar works

- In the Bids in what the Engineering of details, can rate it , like the necessary to Construct the work without the complications that we decrypt more up, is pondered in the 5 % of the cost of the work

- In other occasions the Client delivers part or the whole Engineering of details and the estimation, to be done according to that situation

- We go back to conclude that the best estimator is the one that already did a similar work
